~Tonight's Dinner~

After viewing a saliva- inducing photo of a baked cheese penne, I decided to make a family favorite, baked ziti! aka baked penne, because I didn't have enough ziti noodles.

My baked ziti consists of whole wheat penne, two bags of shredded mozzerella, and a package of mozzerella slices for the top, 12 in total. I like it to be overlfowing with lots of ooey gooey cheese and garlic. So of course I mix in lots and lots of garlic! To top it off, I am trying something new, truffle oil. I usually use some evoo and basil, but I decided to try it with my truffle oil becuase I just found it in storage today!

Truffle oil is delicious! It is rich and earthy and smells like mushrooms. I purchased La Tourangelle White Truffle Oil at whole foods for about fifteen dollars. It's well worth the cost though, because you will not use it often.

My wine of choice for the evening is not a premium wine, nor is it a great wine. It is light-bodied and defenetly not worthy of the decanter! Santa Rita Merlot 2009 is a Chilean Merlot honoring patriots leading the Chilean independce. It sounds better than it tastes. I picked up hints of berries, specifically black berry, chocolate and a woody taste. A decent, cheap find!

Bon Appetit!
